Kathmandu—Pokhara-based Photojournalist Suresh Kumar Shrestha aka Sooraz Kumar Shrestha has been awarded INNJA Photo Journalism Award on March 1 in Kathmandu.
House of Representatives Speaker Bhoj Raj Ghimire awarded Shrestha on behalf of the International Network for Nepali Journalists (INNJA) which is the US-based organization of Nepalese journalists. Journalist Shrestha received Rs 50,000 and a felicitation letter at the moment.
INNJA recognized Shrestha for his contribution to society through photojournalism. According to INNJA Global Chairman Gunaraj Luitel, the organization has been conducting a number of fellowships and awards for the betterment of journalism and to motivate journalists for years.
Photojournalist Shrestha is in the journalism sector since 2062 BS. He began his career at Pokharacity.com and Thikthak.com; and contributed to Kantipur Daily, Kantipur Saptaheek, Nagarik magazine, and Pokhara-based newspapers as a photojournalist. He is a chairman of S2 Production Pvt. Ltd and Happypokhara.com. His production house produces music videos, advertisements, documentaries, and promos.
Mr. Shrestha is also a good singer who released the ‘Anjan Mayalu’ album in 2062 BS. He also served in the adventure-based Nepali reality show Himalaya Roadies as a cinematographer. Moreover, he worked as a cinematographer in World Vlog Challenge organized at Everest Base Camp. Shrestha also contributed as a jury in many beauty pageants.
He is one of the winners of the Nepal Photo Contest organized by the Photo Journalist (PJ) Club in 2070 BS. Shrestha also received the Best Photographer Award in Fashion Award Nepal organized by Trainer Nepal in 2075 BS. He is a general member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Kaski chapter and is a treasurer of NFPJ Gandaki.
