Pokhara— Pokhara-based Journalist Suresh Kumar Shrestha (Sooraz) is to be awarded INNJA Photo Journalism Award on March 1 in Kathmandu.
INNJA awards selection committee has selected photo Journalist Shrestha for this award. He will receive Rs 50,000 and a Certificate on INNJA Day, informed INNJA Global Chairman Gunaraj Luitel.
International Network for Nepali Journalists (INNJA) is a US-based organization of Nepalese journalists. Mr. Shrestha has been working as a photojournalist and visual editor for more than 17 years. He began his journalism career at Pokharacity.com, Thikthak.com and has already contributed to Kantipur Daily, Kantipur Saptahik and Nari Magazine.
Pokhara-based newspapers also published Shrestha’s photos. He now owns S2 Production Pvt. Ltd. and Happypokhara.com. He has produced dozens of music videos, advertisements, documentaries, and promos. As a singer, Mr. Shrestha released his own music video Anjan Mayalu in 2058 BS. He also served in the adventure-based Nepali reality show Himalaya Roadies as a cinematographer. Moreover, he worked as a cinematographer in World Vlog Challenge organized at Everest Base Camp. Shrestha also contributed as a jury in many beauty pageants.
Mr. Shrestha is one of the winners of the Nepal Photo Contest organized by Photo Journalist (PJ) Club in 2070 BS. He also received the Best Photographer Award in Fashion Award Nepal organized by Trainer Nepal in 2075 BS. Shrestha is a general member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Kaski chapter and is a treasurer of NFPJ Gandaki.
He has been involving in social works through Lions Club of Pokhara Munal and Happy Pokhara Group for years. Mr. Shrestha and his group donated drinking water tank to Janajyoti Secondary School
of Kaski district. Likewise, during Gorkha Earthquake, he and his group also provided relief materials like food grains and clothes to the victims of Gorkha and Kaski district.
